Ivan Klemenc   (Иван Клеменц)

Ivan I. Klemenc was born on the 18th of August 1949 in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia. He holds the position of permanent lecturer and Vice-Dean in the drama department of the Academy of Performing Arts in Novi Sad. He lectures principally in the area of pantomime and stage movement.

He studied drama at the Academy of Performing Arts in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, graduating in 1976.

During his career he has studied and worked with many of Europe's leading practitioners of stage movement and pantomime, such as Anne Dennis, Yv Lebraton, Jasque Lecoq, Andreas Valdes and Ladislav Fijalka.

As an actor he has taken part in fifteen feature films, one hundred stage productions and over fifty television productions. He has performed in over a hundred pantomime productions and in almost every country in Europe and the United States.

Since 1993 he has worked on developing teaching techniques for hearing challenged children. His pantomime and movement students have received first place at six European pantomime festivals where they competed on equal terms with non hearing challenged performers.

Film critic and author of the monthly TV program Cinema Art, (to present the life of film through talks and encounters with important people, to point to phenomena, events and figures from the world of the seventh art).

Author and producer of several TV interviews with Nagisa Oshima, Peter Greenaway, Chantal Akerman, Daniel Toscan du Plantier, Harvey Keitel, Simon Perry, Atom Egoyan, Sergey Bodrov, Tsai Ming-liang, Paul Morrissay, Hou Hsiao-hsien,...

Published popular articles and professional film essays in different Yugoslav and foreign dailies and periodicals, adviser to different international film festivals. From May 1993 till November 1995 engaged by various Russian TV stations as advisor, journalist and producer of TV programs dedicated to film and International Film Festivals. Recently worked on realisation of several film programs as: After the Fall of the Wall (Rotterdam FF, 1999), Yugoslav Black Wave (Sochi FF, 1999), Belgian Surrealism and Film (Karlovy Vary FF, 1999), East Side Story (Sochi), Easterns (Amsterdam & Paris), City Life Yugoslav film dedicated to urban life.

Actually released two programs of recent Yugoslav documentaries and short - We can breath in Belgrade and Letters from abroad presented in the frame of the 2nd Tinklai International Film Festival in Klaipeda and Vilnius, Lithuania. For the 2001 Husca International Film Festival works on project Free Expresion from Belgrade - the best animated and shorts without dialogue.
